Satellite Events

In the days preceding the 2nd Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children, partners are organizing satellite events that will contribute to the overall ambition, inclusivity and impact of the Ministerial Conference. These satellite events provide an opportunity for governments, funders, youth-led groups, survivor networks, local, national and international organizations, researchers and other stakeholders to convene around priority themes, deepen technical discussions, strengthen partnerships, and elevate emerging issues related to ending violence against children.
Objectives:
  • Enable in-depth discussions on specific thematic areas related to ending violence against children.
  • Strengthen collaboration among governments, civil society, funders, youth, survivors, practitioners, researchers and partners.
  • Showcase innovative approaches, evidence, and promising practices related to the Conference themes and sessions.
  • Elevate emerging issues and perspectives that may not be fully reflected in the official Ministerial Conference programme.

Information for organizations interested in hosting a satellite event is provided below.

Full Programme of Satellite Events

How to Host a Satellite Event

Organizations have two options for satellite event engagement:

  1. Join an existing overarching thematic event by contacting the designated lead to co-create and contribute content, sessions, speakers, or partnerships. Each theme can bring together multiple sessions with their own titles and formats, contributing to the broader theme.

Partners are keenly encouraged to align their events under the thematic umbrellas, to increase impact, promote coherence and reduce cost.

  2. Organize an independent satellite event focused on a specific topic relevant to ending violence against children.

Key Information for Organizers

There is no minimum or maximum number of satellite events that may be organized.

Satellite events are independently organized, funded and managed by the host organization(s).

The official programme of Satellite events is shared on the conference website and disseminated to participants.

Organizations interested in organizing or contributing to a satellite event are encouraged to contact the relevant thematic lead (see contact details below) at the earliest opportunity or organize it independently.

Organizers are responsible for all aspects of event planning and implementation, including:

  • Securing and booking an appropriate venue from the list of available hotels and meeting spaces – including following up with theme/track lead.
  • Inviting and coordinating speakers and participants.
  • Event promotion and communications.
  • Registration.
  • Arranging interpretation and accessibility services as required.
  • Providing refreshments and other logistical requirements.
  • Covering all associated costs.
